Born in 1922 on his father's homestead in Eyre, Saskatchewan, David Zukerman moved to the Montefiore Colony at Sibbald, Alberta in 1927. The Zukerman family farmed in the bloc settlement until 1951. David lives in Calgary.

 

Born in 1919 at his parent's home near the Toleman school at Rumsey, Alberta, Ben Gelfond stayed on the family farm until 1941 when he left to join the military service. In his last years, Ben lived at a seniors residence in Calgary. (July 27, 1919 - June 1, 2008)

We spoke to two old Jewish farmers who remember homesteading on the prairies.
